Oracle Policy Modeling or OPM is an interactive tool used to create rule models. With this tool you can convert almost all type of source policy documents or rules document into executable rule models using Word or Excel. The tool uses Oracle Determinations Engine, which takes human knowledge and converts it into a computer generated problem solving application.
The best part of this OPM is you can also see how the written rules executes using real time interactive screen. The Oracle Web Determinations, which generates automatic screens for watching your code in action. I know there is too much technical words you can smell so, for now lets get over with the installation and I will be giving you a separate post explaining all technical terms and definitions.
How to Install Oracle Policy Modeling 10.4.5
In case if you have missed my post on the OPA installation and setup guide please try to go through it first or directly download the Oracle Policy Modeling 10.4.5 now. Open the downloaded and extracted folder and click on setup.exe.
Click on ‘Next’ button couple of times until you see the installation in progress window.
Sometimes the installation screen will remain idle for more than 2-3 minutes. Don’t worry eventually the ‘green color’ progress bar will appear. Once it is over you will get a window like this;
Click on Finish and you are done with the OPM installation. Now you need to open the Oracle Policy Modeling manually from start menu. I am running a Windows 8 PC and that explains the screenshot below.
Click on it and OPM 10.4.5 will start loading.
Sometimes you will be welcomed with an error like “Missing .NET framework version 3.5 or you need .NET framework for…”. The OPM requires .NET framework installed in order to start up. You can download the .NET framework from microsoft site. Once you install it the OPM will starts normally and that means we are ready to do some policy modeling.
If you have done with the installation lets move on to next step.
